The meeting was called to order at 6:14 p.m. by Janet Jensen.
Approval of Nov. 13, 2023 minutes, motioned by Regina Bell,  2nd by Robert Strawn, no objections.

I.     Speakers:  Robert Columbro new Firesafe Representative from RCDTC spoke about developing a needs assessment form for Manton. Janet brought up how Jon Barrett is going after “appropriations” instead of Cal Fire funding. Robert said he would peak to Stephanie Dickerson about that. Hal Sawyer said that we all should give a big thank you to RCD for all the work that has been done. Drew Barnhart has done a great job, and makes the point that herbicides prevent brush from coming back thicker.  ,

II.   Hal showed photos from Lassen Fire Safe Council clearing on Wilson Hill Rd., all along the old airport. Tom Carrier asked about the designated fire break area down Hazen/Bar Ranch Rd. Robert Columbro said he’s look into that.

III. Firewise Certification- MFSC has hired a consultant, Dan Douglas, from Lassen Fire Safe Council, to help us with the filing. Chelsey will work on community members being able to register their volunteer work hours for clearing. Hal will be driving around with Dan on Friday.

IV. MFSC spoke about having a Home Hardening workshop in early Fall. We have agreed to have a one day workshop rather than 2 day. We mentioned that the rest of the $35k grant money may be used to hire RCDTC to do clearing on Rock Creek Rd.

V.  Joanne gave report on the Manton Day event. It was agreed upon by all involved, that though there were no problems, both the Grange and MFSC will hold their own events next year. A concern for our FSC is that the Wildfire Educational booths should be an integral part of our fundraising.

VI. Chelsey Snethen reported that as of 4/16/2024 our checking account has  9,300 and our savings (for water tank maintenance) has $2800.

VII.       Nothing from Open Discussion as everyone was tired from the Mayor’s Race Fundraiser dinner prior to the meeting!

Meeting was adjourned at 6:58 with a motion from Robert Strawn and a 2nd from Linda Strawn.

*Next meeting will be July 16, 2024.
